Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form

QE6 Extras

We have an enviable choice of meaningful experiences and opportunities on offer to empower you with the skills and qualities you need to ensure your applications stand out, whilst also allowing you the chance to hone existing talents, discover new passions and have fun with friends.

Clubs and Societies

There are a number of clubs and societies available within our sixth form and this will continue to expand as we encourage students to set them up to reflect their wide-ranging interests. You will also be inspired to run clubs for those students in the lower school to give back to the school community whilst also developing your leadership skills.

Life Skills Programme

Covering topics like financial planning, first aid and drug awareness, these sessions give you vital skills you will be able to call upon in life after QE6.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) is a nationally and internationally recognised award, favoured by universities and employers alike.

Students can undertake the Bronze and Silver Awards during their time at QE6; and achieve their award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections:

  1. Volunteering: undertaking service to individuals or the community
  2. Physical: improving in an area of sport, dance or fitness activities
  3. Skills: developing practical and social skills and personal interests
  4. Expedition: planning, training for and completion of an adventurous journey in the UK or abroad

Throughout the experience, you will learn to push your boundaries, gain new skills and enhance your CV and applications; all whilst growing as individuals, building confidence, independence, responsibility, dedication and commitment.

World Challenge

We are pleased to partner with World Challenge, the leading provider of life-changing school expeditions to developing world communities.

The expedition differs from normal school trips as you are in full control. You will raise the funds to pay for your place, plan the itinerary, manage the budget and deal with all the logistical issues in the destination country such as transportation, food and accommodation. During the expedition you will tackle demanding treks as well as positively contribute towards inspiring and ethical community-led initiatives. Finally, you will also have a couple of days to unwind and relax!

This trip of a lifetime will allow you to learn money management skills, develop social skills, lead teams in challenging circumstances and build confidence whilst exploring a new country. You will return with a better understanding of yourself and those around you.

Young Enterprise

You can take part in Young Enterprise, a fantastic scheme for students to learn about business and enterprise by starting and running your own business. Working with advisors you must write business plans, plan production and marketing and sell your product. Along the way you develop your business acumen and acquire leadership, communication, management, marketing and financial skills – all beneficial for the world of work.
