  • Grade 5 in any Humanities subject
  • No previous knowledge of Criminology is required

Course Overview

If you are interested in analysing crimes, understanding what pushes people to the limit, want to understand more about the criminal justice system and how to gather crime scene evidence, then Criminology is the subject for you. Criminology will encourage you to develop critical thinking and see things from the perspective of an offender, victim or an official. It is for students interested in acquiring an in-depth understanding of the complexities of criminal delinquent and deviant behaviour, as well as being able to explain society’s reaction.

Assessment Methods

The Level 3 Applied Certificate in Criminology is assessed using a combination of internal and external assessment.

Unit 1

Changing Awareness of Crime is internally assessed in controlled assessment tasks

Unit 2

Criminal Theories is an external assessment which is a 90 minute examination

In Criminology at QE6 we offer a range of co-curricular opportunities including: guest lectures from experts in the field; curriculum related trips; access to further reading lists and work based opportunities in sectors related to Criminology.

Progression

This qualification will open doors to a further study of Criminology at degree level as well as opening careers in the legal field including law, law enforcement and journalism.
