Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form

...our first 30 days

Three of our students reflect on their first 30 days at QE6.

JONAIZA

I would say my first 30 days at QE6 have been quite staggering! From day one it has been evident that QE6 is dedicated to providing its students with the best opportunities.

The standout features of our sixth form are undoubtedly the teaching staff. It feels like having personal mentors that are genuinely invested in our success. Their ambition and determination for us students is palpable. We can all agree the jump from GCSE to A level has been unexpectedly difficult but the teachers go above and beyond to ensure we have the assistance and attention to thrive academically. But sometimes simply lending a listening ear has been immensely helpful.

What appeals to me the most about QE6 as a student is the impeccable organisational and disciplinary standards of our sixth form, creating an environment that instils a sense of responsibility and encourages time management and ownership of our education.

Our institution exudes ambition, its mission to empower students has been clear from day one with the St John’s ambulance services providing emergency first aid training and the weekly QE6 connect sessions with amazing guest speakers sharing their expertise.

The sixth form has also been providing us with opportunities for personal growth and development with its leadership roles to help us explore our passions and potentials outside our classrooms.

My experience at QE6 has been incredibly enriching and quite different from QES. I can confidently say that QE6 is preparing us not just for exams but a life beyond the classroom.

FOREVER

Diverse. Supportive. Innovative.

These are the words that describe my first 30 days at QE6. It's an amazing opportunity that I get to be a founder student and interact with like minded people while being guided by the best staff.

QE6 is a ‘melting pot’ of diversity. There is a mutual level of respect and understanding amongst its students. As a new student to the Queen Elizabeth School, I feel very warmly welcomed by all the staff and students.

The teachers and tutors at QE6 are unmatchable. They constantly push us and encourage us to strive for excellence and be the best that we can be. They are incredibly relatable.

When I told my friends that I was going to a new Sixth form and I would be a founding student, they had really mixed reactions and said stuff like, ‘’Good luck being the trial student’’. But ever since I got into QE6, I have not regretted anything, I feel really valued here and I am grateful for the gift of QE6.

RONNIE

I made the decision to go to QE6 because I enjoyed being at QES so much and I thought that it would be good for me to remain in a familiar environment. I've always gotten along well with all my teachers and I was looking forward to them helping me with the next stage of my life.

I arrived on the first day excited to get my QE6 lanyard and we went straight into first aid training. I can't believe on my first day, I learnt how to save lives!

One of my courses is the Football Academy with Luton Town who are now in the Premiership - I am now training with a premiership club!!!. I'm also studying Travel and Tourism which is a new subject to me and at the moment we are learning how to book flights and holidays.

I have really enjoyed my first 30 days at QE6 as I have met new people and continued to experience the good teaching I had before. The QE6 Hub is a fantastic space to work, socialise and maximise the opportunity to be together as QE6. I can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings!
